Greg Kurzner:

You know, a lot of professional home buyers say that they’ll buy a house in any condition, but they really won’t. I’m Greg Kurzner.

Brent Bagley:

And I’m Brent Bagley.

Greg:

And we’re with Resideum, and we will. Brent, tell us about this house.

Brent:

This house was hit by an EF4 tornado in March of this year. That means that the winds around this area were anywhere from 166 to 200 mph. As you can see, the roof was completely ripped off the house. The garage was completely ripped off, and we’re standing, believe it or not, where the garage used to be.

Greg:

You know, Brent, I wanted a convertible, but I meant a car.

Brent:

Yeah.

Greg:

We’re going to go take a look inside and we’ll be able to see better what we’ve got on the inside.

Greg:

Wow. And this is after four dump loads of trash, right?

Brent:

Yes.

Greg:

Wow, the devastation in here is amazing. If you think that your house is not in good enough condition to sell to Resideum, you’re wrong. We’ve got obviously no roof. We have all the drywall and everything blown down over here, missing windows, mold everywhere. Watch your step. Don’t step on nails. You know, it really is amazing how much damage is done in here.

Brent:

Yeah.

Greg:

Got to redo the kitchen completely. Floors, walls. Obviously the roof in here and add the garage back. The deck will need to be redone. Can’t even get out there. It’s amazing, and I’ll show you in some other areas, where the wind speed was so ferocious that it blew the insulation vertically on to some of these pieces of brick molding. Look at this. Can you see that?

Brent:

Yeah.

Greg:

That’s wind blown insulation that’s stuck to the sides of that.

Greg:

So we’re standing over here in one of the bedrooms, and you can still see there’s boxes of books, bedding, broken windows. Very surreal.

Greg:

Okay, so we’re in another bedroom over here.

Brent:

Yeah.

Greg:

And this bedroom is up against the side of the house. And I’m assuming that the tornado came in from this direction and went that direction. You can see where almost the entire wall here is gone. This window’s blown out, and it really is, in many cases, the worst condition ever. You can also see where the insulation is blown on the side of it.

Brent:

Yeah.

Greg:

So again, when we say if you think your house might not be in good enough condition to sell to us, unless it’s like this, and even if it is, we’ll still buy it.

Greg:

All right, Brent, we’re in the master here.

Brent:

Yes.

Greg:

What do you notice right off the bat?

Brent:

I mean, just utter destruction. I mean…

Greg:

You;ve got mold on the exterior walls back over here.

Brent:

Yeah.

Greg:

On the dry wall, and all. Carpet is kind of spongy. We’ll have to look at the sub flooring, and that’ll have to go as well.

Greg:

Okay. Brent, where are we now?

Brent:

We’re in the master bathroom.

Greg:

Oh, my goodness. Look at there. One of these floor, I mean one of the ceiling joists is in the toilet.

Brent:

Wow.

Greg:

Okay. Yeah. So this is a kind of complete gut job. We can maybe keep the tub and the shower enclosure, but otherwise, everything’s going to come down.

Brent:

Yeah.

Greg:

And start over. Yikes!

Brent:

Mosquitoes are lovely.

Greg:

Again. Like we said, we’ll buy a house in any condition. So you think yours is too bad for us to buy. You are wrong.

Greg:

Okay. We’re down in the basement, and this one actually looks fairly decent, with the exception of we’ve got all kinds of moisture down here. And then obviously, the mold that grows as a result of that moisture. So the first thing we’re going to do here is get the wet insulation down off of the floor deck above it so that we can get this dried out, because that’s the big problem. Just got to get it dry down here so we can stop the mold growth and deal with it. But it’s going to be fine. I definitely think that it looks like the flooring structure here is sound–majority of it anyway. So that’s the reason why we feel like we’re going to be able to put the house back together, and we’re not going to have to take it down to the studs.

Greg:

Well, at least the backyard looks okay, right?

Brent:

Yeah, we’ve still got the deck.

Greg:

Yeah. We’ve got the deck. So again, just to reiterate, Resideum will buy a house in any condition, and we mean any condition. But the other thing that we wanted to say is that your house doesn’t have to be hit by a tornado to sell it to a professional home buyer like Resideum. We buy houses in good condition. We buy houses in average condition. We buy houses in fair condition. And again, we buy houses in poor condition. Yeah.
